近年戰績萎靡不振的費城人，季前將老將羅林斯(Jimmy Rollins)、柏德(Marlon Byrd)送走，進入重建，11日又傳出啟動新交易，主角是陣中守護神派柏本(Jonathan Papellbon)，據消息指出，藍鳥以及小熊已表達強烈興趣。

派柏本的交易案從春訓就開始傳聞不斷，他本季年薪目前為800萬美元，若是出賽達48場則能拿到1300萬美元，合約當中還有一個特殊選擇權，假如今年能完成55場出賽，連同去年共有100場的話，則能自動延長一年合約。

龐大的薪資負擔，加上派柏本多次傳出與球團關係交惡，甚至對球迷擺出不雅手勢，讓正值重建期的費城人急欲想擺脫這顆燙手山芋。據「福斯體育台」報導，費城人已表明願意負擔不分薪資，目前藍鳥以及小熊都展現強烈興趣。

儘管派柏本的合約中含有拒絕交易條款，但他本人在季初曾透露轉戰多倫多的興趣，並不反對加盟；而小熊現任總裁艾普斯坦(Theo Epstein)以及總經理霍耶(Jed Hoyer)就是當年紅襪在選秀會上選進派柏本的推手，也都在波士頓共事過。再加上費城人提出的交易條件，就是希望能獲得更多淺力新秀，而這兩隊的農場制度都在聯盟數一數二，更加深此筆交易的可能性。

34歲的派柏本今年仍能繳出12次救援成功、防禦率1.13的成績，目前生涯337次救援排名史上第十三，有望在本季擠進前十，日前更以118次救援點榮登費城人隊史救援王，加上他在紅襪時期也以219次救援拿下隊史第一，與名將能恩(Robb Nenn)成為大聯盟史上唯二能在2支球隊拿下隊史救援王的投手。

不僅是派柏本，費城人總管阿馬羅(Ruban Amaro Jr.)季初就將王牌左投漢默斯(Cole Hamels)以及主砲霍華(Ryan Howard)擺上交易檯面，只是礙於兩位的龐大薪資，目前的交易皆是雷聲大、雨點小，仍未有球隊願意出手。
